Jeff Wysaki’s Fake Paint Names Make Choosing Paint Fun

We talk A LOT about color at Castle — what we see as the clear differences between sky blue and robin’s egg blue, the subtle tonal shifts between cream and cashew…you get the point. We’ll admit it, despite our best attempts, sometimes we get a little carried away with talking about paint (only because we love it!). Comedian Jeff Wysaki took a jab at the paint industry last month when he took paint chips, photoshopped them with hilarious new names and then returned them to the shelves of hardware stores for unsuspecting customers to find. In short, Jeff Wysaki’s fake paint names make choosing paint fun.

We pulled our favorite colors below here but be sure to check out all of Wysaki’s hilarious color creations on his Tumblr. Please join us for a work day giggle and as always, a reminder to not take yourself too seriously.

Yikes. that’s too dark, even for black. To note, we DO NOT suggest this for your black walls. Just not a good look.

No comment. Your living room color is your choice to make.

We’ve all been through (or are going through) a stressful remodel at some point in our lives. These paint names are a great reminder to approach the situation with some levity and that sometimes, the best decision you can make in your home remodel is to let it make you laugh. There are ups, there are downs and there are definitely some comedic points along the way.

This also got us thinking about some other weird paint names…which out of these do you think is the fake name? Benjamin Moore’s Hugs and Kisses, Behr’s Potentially Purple, Behr’s Mermaid Net, Sherwin Williams’ Lauren’s Surprise or Benjamin Moore’s Flamingo Dream?

Trick! None of those are fake names; those are all legitimate color names that the paint manufacturers marketing department put on those little chips. So yes, you can have “potentially purple” walls for your living room, should you so wish.

What are some of the silly paint names you’ve seen before? Ever come up with a great paint name you think the paint companies need to pick up? Tell us!
