Whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, you have to admit — celebrities have some pretty unbelievable homes. And when in our own hometown, we just can’t help ourselves from looking in the windows to try to pick out their designer favorites (plus, their best tips). Below here, we’ll show you how to get the look at a couple of our favorite Atlanta-based celebrity homes.

Elton John – Atlanta

Sir Elton John and his boyfriend spared no expense when they went to remodel their Atlanta three bedroom, three bath home. According to Curbed, although the median home price in the neighborhood is $300,000 to $500,000, this stunner ticks in at $1,295,000.

When you renovate like Elton John, you don’t hold back. We love this gorgeous arched doorway and did you notice he likes faux-finishing? We did! This wall looks to be something similar to Ralph Lauren’s suede finish. The paint gives the room nice warmth and depth.

We’re a little surprised to see how traditional the Rocket Man’s decor is (he also has a lavish Buckhead penthouse that’s much less restrained). That said, this room is an example of comfortable traditional decor and what it can do for a small home. The faux finish from the previous photo is carried through this room, giving it a nice sense of continuity, while also adding some crisp white moulding around the ceiling and the fireplace.

Kathryn Stockett – Atlanta

If you’re a hometown-loving book nerd (raises hand), you probably know Kathryn Stockett. If you’re not familiar with her, she’s the author of the runaway hit The Help and the subsequent film starring Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.

Adding to her claim to fame as an incredible storyteller, Miss Stockett also seems to have beautiful taste. Take for example, this modern kitchen. The herringbone floor grounds the light and airy room. The all-white walls and white cabinets keep this room clean and stress-free. We love framing the windows in black to add contrast and the pops of color found in the red table and adorable red bread box.

How cool is this dining room? The all-black walls and moulding complement the rich wood floors and the space is opened up by the crisp white ceiling. For decor, the gold chandelier is fabulous (and looks great with that bar cart) and the teal chairs are a very cool ‘60s-inspired addition.
