Sometimes we all need a little decor refresh to put some pep in our step for Spring. But not all projects have to be full, large-scale renovations; if done correctly, the small projects can give you just as much of a home facelift and many can be completed with as little as a quart of paint. Here, our favorite five “quart of paint” projects for Spring 2015.

#5 Paint your trim

Often, homeowners default to painting their trim or crown moulding the same color as their walls. But it doesn’t have to be so! We love a soft colored trim to tie into existing decor (or in this case, an elegant way to connect a sitting area to a larger living room).
#4 Update old wooden chairs

Have any wooden chairs kicking around your home (or perhaps, basement) that don’t look right to put at a table but you just can’t part with? Paint is a great option for updating them. For a spring punch, paint them in pastels or, for a classic neutral look, you can never go wrong with black or white. Extra seating is great to have on hand for a kitchen table, office or even a living room. Paired with a coordinating cushion, you can repurpose something you had on hand for a designer look.
#3 Paint the back of your bookshelves

Painting the back of your bookshelves is such an easy in-and-out project and gives huge design credit for any room. Choose a color that will complement but may not be as prominent in your room’s decor and carry that color through small accessories like pillows, accent rugs or art.
#2 Paint an interior door

Why haven’t we all been doing this for years? Painting an interior door is a fast project but since we’re all used to seeing neutral doors, is a big visual ah-ha for your home. Bright colors are fantastic for this—just make sure that the color will be sympatico with the two rooms the door ajoins. We also love the example here from Bright Bazaar Blog, painting the interior of the door a different color is such a fun surprise!
#1 Paint the side of your shed
It’s almost Spring, so do not neglect your backyard. If you have an unsightly shed for storing garden tools, patio cushions, etc, help it out with a coat of paint! We love this idea above from Built By Kids. With pretty weather just around the corner, get your kids outdoors and playing with a chalkboard wall on the side of the shed. It’ll be fun for them and easy for you to send them outside to create their masterpieces.
